Crayon

My daughter loves crayons and since she started colouring on everything that she shouldn’t she is now stuck in her high chair whenever she has crayons. I figured I would make her a crayon that she could carry around with her. It didn’t go over as well as Elmo, but both kids like to chew on the end.

A bit of warning, this takes a lot of stuffing. A LOT.

Materials:

• I used worsted weight blue, light blue, and black.
• G-sized crochet hook. It’s not the size that’s important so I’m not including a gauge. I crochet pretty tightly, if your stitches are looser you may want to use a smaller hook. The important thing is to make sure that the stitches are tight enough to hold in the stuffing.
• I used polyfiber stuffing, but any stuffing will do.
• Scissors to cut the yarn.
• A needle with an eye big enough for yarn.
• Safety pin, optional.
• Cardboard- I used an old cereal box.
• Hot glue gun

This is worked in continuous rounds. Use a stitch marker to keep your place and move it up as you complete rows. I use a safety pin and just put it through the last stitch of a round.

Cut a circle out of the cardboard to fit snugly inside the bottom of the crayon. Glue in place.
